Furkids is a 501(c)(3), charitable, non-profit animal rescue organization located in Atlanta, Georgia. Furkids mission is to:

• provide a cage-free, no-kill shelter for our rescued animals where they can experience the best care in a loving environment until they are adopted;
• find permanent, loving, homes for our rescued animals;
• and inform the public about pet overpopulation, promote sterilization and provide information for low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter organizations.

Furkids recently saved this sweet female labrador and her puppies and are treating them for sarcoptic mange. Their treatment will last approximately two months. Please help us offset their quarantine expenses by making a donation towards their care. We appreciate your support that enables us to rescue worthy animals such as these that would otherwise be euthanized at animal control.

New Update: The puppies have broken with parvo. We appreciate your prayers for their successful treatment and recovery. Thank you for contributing towards their hospitalization and treatment. They are sweet dogs and deserve this chance at a good life.

Smoke was turned in to Coweta County Animal Control with his sister Gracie. They were told he had been caught in a car motor as a kitten. Fortunately for Smoke, he survived without even receiving any medical care. Once at Furkids, he was sent to a dental specialist and had to have the majority of his teeth removed. He is recovering quite well and looks and acts like a new cat! Can you open your heart to this brave boy? If unable to adopt, please consider making a donation towards his medical expenses. Ever thought of adopting a senior cat? Furkids rescues many seniors in need of loving, permanent homes. We believe that no matter the age of a pet they are deserving of a new start to life. We give our senior cats the loving care they need, for as long as they need, until the right home comes along. In some cases, our senior cats live out their lives with us as we shepherd them gently into their twilight years. Because our senior cats stay with us longer, we incur more expense as a result. As of 2005, Metro Atlanta pet overpopulation statistics were staggering. Of the 19 county animal control shelters surveyed, 130,000 animals were impounded collectively (SPOTsociety.org). Of the animals impounded, a mere 8% were reclaimed and only 22% were adopted or transferred to rescue agencies. The sad part of the story is that close to 60% of the impounded animals were euthanized due to a lack of homes in the Metro Atlanta area. In some remote counties, this number is as high as 90%.
